Employee Morale
See Your Name in Print...
Contributed by a loyal subscriber
Here's something that our company does that helps boost morale and increases our communication:
We have a quarterly internal newsletter. Every employee is encouraged to write something for the newsletter.
It could be something about what you're working on, something about a vacation that you took, an article that you think might be of interest to the rest of the employees or sometimes even just a cartoon or joke.
Each entry has a "submitted by" at the end so we can all see who contributed, and the contributors can have the thrill of seeing their names in print. After the newsletter comes out, everyone eagerly looks for their piece and those of their co-workers. As a result, we'll often hear supportive comments among co-workers.
We have some very witty and wonderful writers in our company and sometimes it's a real surprise to see these talents come out in someone.
It does make us feel like this is OUR newsletter and not just something that HR routinely sends out.
