Success is reaching one’s goals while maintaining one’s personal values. Since I value respect, honesty, integrity, knowledge, humor, love, family, the earth, wild life, and a positive outlook on life, my sense of achieving success must include maintaining these values and not harming others.
In other words, reaching a goal or having an accomplishment, regardless of the negative means or cost of that outcome, is not a success.
My definition of success is dependent upon the context in which it is applied. As a three time cancer survivor, my yearly measure of success is living one more year cancer free.
In context of my job as an educator, I am successful if I have helped a student understand, learn or appreciate a concept they had not known. I am also successful if I help other adults to improve the education of students.
As a professional clown, I am successful if I have made another person realize how good they feel inside by doing something unique to touch their life; i.e. I inspire them to smile, smirk, chuckle, or just feel better.

Success to me means that although you don't have all the wealth in the world, your world is okay. You are happy with who you are, what you have achieved in life thus far, and you know that whatever you put your mind to in the future will occur. That's what success is to me.

Success is contentment with your life. I feel successful because of where I am in life. I am successful because of my children, my husband, my family, my friends and co-workers. I am successful because the little set backs and let downs in life do not get in the way of moving forward. I try to use those points as a starter to change and become successful in what ever direction they leave me in.

Simply.... That I made a difference. Success is as much the small ways we make a difference, as are the big efforts that we help to implement. If I have helped to support and assist others, and have made some progress in my own goals and work efforts... it has been a great day.

I read this quote once and have used it as a guide for my personal life because every day can be a success, and each person can be a success even in the most menial jobs.
I've always felt like morale is lost if we don't place proper emphasis on every job and its importance to the company as a whole. Each person must feel like they are a success from the very bottom of the organizational chain to the top of that same organizational chain.
"Success is achievable without public recognition, and the world has many unsung heroes.
"The teacher who inspires you to pursue your education to your ultimate ability - is a success. The parents who taught you the noblest human principles - are a success. The coach who shows you the importance of teamwork - is a success. The spiritual leader who instills in you spiritual values and faith - is a success. The relatives, friends, and neighbors with whom you develop a reciprocal relationship of respect and support--they, too, are successes.
"The most menial workers can properly consider themselves successful if they perform their best and if the product of their work is of service to humanity."
Quote from Michael DeBakey, M.D. (in Success Secrets of Super Achievers by Stovall)

Success to me is defined by the way in which I do the little things in my life, each and every day. Whether it's making my sons breakfast and driving them to school, or simply doing laundry or cleaning a toilet, I try to focus on why I am doing what I am doing, now just WHAT I am doing.
Sometimes this may mean I remembered a coworker or friend's birthday, anniversary, or congratulated them on a job promotion or new baby.
In whatever I do, I try to do it with the intentions of love and kindness, even if it is resolving a computer problem (I am a software analyst by day) or helping with a domestic issue (I am a mental health counselor in the evenings).

For the business person and soldier: To reach goals on time, within budget, and (here is the tricky part) with the organization intact and strong enough to repeat the action.
For the sensitive: Ralph Waldo Emerson said:
"To Laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."

Success to me is living each day in such a way that if it were my last they could say that I was a person of integrity. No matter what we are trying to achieve if we try to do it in an intergral way, we are successful.

Success- Its not just about being successful on a particular day or time. But its more about being successful every day.So for me to be successful each day, Start your day like trying to climb up a ledder and by the end of the each day, reach to its top, inspite of any hurdles coming in the way. That's what counts success for each day.
